Popularity Has Its Price: Gossip Girl Is Back

Lies. Lust. Jealousy. Drama. That's what the lives of spoiled rich Upper East Side New Yorkers revolves around.
That's Gossip Girl.
Returning for its third season, (Monday, March 8th at 9pm) Gossip Girl is a one-hour drama based on an exclusive group of privileged teens on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. No one knows Gossip Girl's true identity. The characters only know that whoever it is, is a force to be reckoned with. The attitude of this 'gossip girl' is that of a "watch your back, karma is real and whatever you do will eventually come back to haunt you." Everyone in this exclusive and complicated vicious circle relies on the Gossip Girl website and text messages for the latest scoop.
The series stars Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen, Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf, Penn Badgley as Dan Humphrey, Chace Crawford as Nate Archibald, Taylor Momsen as Jenny Humphrey, Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass, Jessica Szohr as Vanessa Abrams, Kelly Rutherford as Lily van der Woodsen and Matthew Settle as Rufus Humphrey. It is filmed in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar.
The show is booming with-well, as it states in it's title, gossip. It's stamped as "the show that no parents want their teenagers to watch."
Yes, apparently it's THAT appalling.
The executive producers Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Bob Levy, Leslie Morgenstein, John Stephens and co-executive producer Joshua Safran were surprised when the show caught immediate attention as the first season carried on and eventually their target audience was begging to know what salacious drama would unfold next.
The second season was just as gripping.
I for one, find the show absolutely addicting. I can't stop watching it. It fascinates me how a cast of about 9 main characters can intertwine with one another over and over... Nate is dating Blair. No wait, He's into Serena. But she's with Dan? Oh, that's right, Dan is interested in Vanessa. But Vanessa likes Nate...Nate has moved on to Jenny. But he still likes Blair...she's dating Chuck now.
Get my point? It's just one big, tangled web of confusion and 'I-love-you's but not really.'
The show is so popular because we all love to watch other people's lives go up in smoke!

At any rate, the show is kind of like my guilty pleasure. And I can't get enough of it.

"You know you love me... XOXO, Gossip Girl."

  1. Sweet Gossip Girl is back!
I absolutely adore your blog and the set up of your entries.
You really catch my interest, and I like that you don't just copy and paste facts and opinions from other sources; you actually come up with your own thoughts and put them down (which is the entire purpose of a blog). I enjoyed this. :)
